The Adelaide International Rose Garden at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens displays over 2,500 roses in a sunken garden, a circular garden and several pergolas.
The eastern side of the garden belongs to the National Rose Trial Garden – which began in 1996 to help the rose industry determine which roses not yet for sale in Australia are best suited to our climate as well as providing the opportunity to test and promote Australian bred roses.  The roses in the trial garden are judged independently on the following criteria:
•health
•vigour
•hardiness
•pest and disease tolerance
•habit of growth
•impact of the display
•beauty of blooms
•abundance of flowering
•fragrance
•novelty
I visited the garden in the second week of Winter and was delighted to find a number of the roses still in bloom.  It was the roses of French heritage which I found had the freshest and most intact blooms.  Is it possible that they know that it is currently Summer in France?
Please enjoy my selection of French roses.
